In with the new year!

Howdy folks, we are BACK from the annual excursion to the Unified Wine Symposium in Sacramento! Imagine this huge convention center overwhelmingly filled to the brim of booths that somehow pertain to the wine industry….from tractors, to flooring, from bladder presses to various gases, from steam cleaners to going “green”er, from wine labels to label printers…..and so on. We all have our various technology and info we’re after so it’s a lot of chaos, chit-chatting, cell phoning when you lose someone and trying to catch the bus back, wine sampling, and a contest on who gets the coolest freebie (more of a contest between Dennis and Uncle Mike)…who won?? We’ll see. One of my favorite parts about going down to Sacramento is staying at my Uncle Mike and Aunt Bobbi’s house in Davis. Did I mention that they have a grove of citrus trees including oranges, mandarins, tangerines, grapefruits, lemons, blood oranges and my favorite…the POMELLO. I squeezed fresh orange juice in the mornings and definitely raided their trees to bring some back to the non-citrus-growing climate in Idaho, lol. (I bought a hand-juicer today!) We’ll update shortly with photos of the trip, including our “play-day” in Sonoma. In the meanwhile it’s prep time for multiple bottlings and a bit of pre-pruning in the vineyard. The crew is excited to release some NEW VARIETALS in Indian Creek Winery history….Muscat canelli, Viognier, Pinot Gris, Temperanillo…….psyched! They will be totin’ some new beautiful labels.

P.S. I apologize to anyone who called Rick’s Press Room about the wine dinner/class and discovered that it was a private event. That was my mistake….didn’t realize it was for a private group!
