Rollingstone Chevre
Today I went out to the Rollingstone Farm to pick up the cheese for our Spring Release Weekend (April 15 – 17). I first discovered Rollingstone and met Charles (Chuck) and Karen Evans a few years ago and boy, I have been hooked ever since. I’ve always had a pleasant greeting from their giant white Great Pyrenees dogs and today I met a few of their exotic Italian sheep dogs and they were just as sweet. The Rollingstone farm has been commercially producing artisan goat cheeses since 1988 and they have about 50 acres. They have received nothing but raved reviews on their cheeses and we are excited to feature 5 of their cheeses this weekend. Several months ago I heard the saddening news about Charles losing his 2-year battle to cancer. His vibrant and heart-warming presence is greatly missed by the community, his family and friends, including (as farmers know) his goats and dogs. Just like my dad tells me that when he goes to spread his ashes in the pinot block, I’m sure Chuck’s spirit is in each and every pound of their cheese. Karen has her hands full (as you’ll see in the photos below) and what a hard worker she is! A wonderful Cheesemaker! Thanks for all you do.
Here are some photos I took while picking up the cheese today:
Come on out this weekend to try their artisan cheeses! Cheers!
